A flagger directing traffic in Lawrence County was struck by a car and flown to the hospital on Monday morning. 

Authorities say a woman was driving through a construction zone on Savannah Road in Shenango Township around 10 a.m.

Lawrence County officials say the woman was distracted and struck the flagger with her vehicle.

Witnesses say the flagger did try to get out of the way but couldn't in time. 

The flagger was flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with serious injuries. 

Shenango Township Police are still investigating the crash.

Authorities say the woman is facing pending charges.
