BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - The driver of an SUV has been cited after a tanker truck collided with a car and the SUV, snarling traffic at a busy Boardman intersection Wednesday morning.
First responders were called to the accident at Route 224 and West Boulevard after 10:30 a.m.
Troopers said a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was eastbound on US 224 and was attempting to turn northbound onto West Boulevard.
That's when a 2011 Freightliner semi tanker was westbound on 224 and struck the Equinox as it was turning left.
The semi then was forced to the right and struck a 2005 Mercury Montego that was stopped southbound on West Boulevard, according to a press release.
Troopers said the semi then struck several large rocks as it went up over the curb near Coaches Burgers.
Authorities said the gasoline tanker was empty at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Equinox, Jean McBride, her husband and the driver of the Mercury were taken to area hospitals.
Troopers said all suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Traffic along 224 was down to just one westbound lane and both eastbound lanes while the accident was being investigated.
Troopers said there was also a small amount of diesel fuel that spilled from the truck that had to be cleaned up.
At noon, a crane was brought in to remove the truck.
Troopers said McBride, the driver of the Equinox, was cited for failure to yield.
