Authorities have notified family members that a  body of a man found Sunday night in Warren is that of Jerry "Jay" Hughley.

Hughley, whose death is being investigated as a homicide, was found at Risher Road and Pershing Avenue SW just after 7 p.m. Sunday after Hughley's aunt told a dispatcher she had discovered the body of her nephew in the grass.

Police said the body of the 35-year-old Warren resident was found in a state of advanced decomposition.

Hughley's uncle, Robert Allen, said, "Jay was a happy go lucky guy. He was fun loving. He tried to get along with everybody so whatever he did, I don't understand why you do something like that to him."

Hughley was reported missing shortly after his girlfriend and mother of his children, 28-year-old Brittany May, was found shot to death about one week before near Deemer Park in Warren.

"They killed his girlfriend and he was in love with her. I knew when they found her dead...you know...because they were always together. When you seen him you seen her," added Allen.

Family members had been searching the area for Hughley since his disappearance.

The Trumbull County Coroner and Warren Police Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
