A 2020 Republican candidate is running to be Congressman for Ohio's 13th District, which is currently held by Democratic presidential candidate Tim Ryan.

Duane Hennan plans on running for the Congressional seat in the upcoming 2020 election.

Hennan states that under Ryan, jobs have left, the Valley population has decreased, and the value of homes has dropped.

"Ryan is split between running for president and focusing on his district," said Hennan.

The 2020 candidate says that he wants to focus on the people in the Valley and that revitalization, the regional economy, education, and health care reform are a few topics that he would like to focus on.

"The biggest reason I want to run is to see progress in the District, there is not enough for the average person," said Hennan.

Hennan is a former pastor. He also owned a matress business based out of Grove City.

In a written statement, Hennan says that he is a pro-life candidate who is also willing to fight for Second Amendment rights and the 'sanctity of life.'

Hennan plans to visit the Mahoning County Republican Party Headquarters on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The headquarters is located at 8381 Market Street in Youngstown.

Hennan is a Valley native that graduated from Champion High School in 1989.
