Youngstown City Council to pass resolution honoring Pat Ungaro
Youngstown City Council is set to pass a resolution posthumously honoring former Youngstown Mayor Pat Ungaro at their September 18 meeting.
Ungaro grew up in Smoky Hollow and graduated from The Rayen School.
He attended Youngstown State and Westminster College, earning a Bachelors and Masters in education.
Before becoming mayor, Ungaro served as a teacher, assistant principal, and coach in the Youngstown School District.
Ungaro served as 3rd Ward City Councilman from 1977 to 1981 before becoming President of Council in 1982.
Ungaro was elected in 1984 as Mayor and held the position for 14 years.
He also served as Liberty Township administrator until recently.
Ungaro was described as straightforward, honest, and a man with great integrity.
