According to Warren Ohio State Patrol dispatchers, crews were sent out for an accident involving two vehicles in Johnston Township.

OSP responded to a call of two vehicles hitting a group of pedestrians outside Bacconi's Lickety Split between State Route 5 and State Route 88 just before noon today along with the Trumbull county Sheriff's Department and Johnston Fire/EMS.

According a release from OSP, a Chevrolet Traverse was traveling eastbound on State Route 5 when the vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole.

OSP troopers on the scene told 21 News they believe the driver of the Traverse involved in the crash suffered a medical emergency.

The release said the Traverse continued into Lickety Split's parking lot and collided with a Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

OSP said the collision caused the truck to rotate and strike a group of pedestrians waiting in line, others were struck by debris.

The Traverse also hit a Chevy HHR before coming to a halt.

Eight people suffered minor injuries and no one was taken to the hospital according to the release.

The driver of the Traverse was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

OSP said alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the accident.

21 News spoke with Lickety Split's manager who said they are thankful there were no fatalities, and the accident didn't occur at a busier time.

The ice cream shop building was not hit and will remain open today.

This is the last day Lickety Split will be open for the summer season.

This crash is still under investigation.
