EGCC cancels in-person classes through March 30

YOUNGSTOWN - Eastern Gateway Community College has suspended face-to-face classroom instruction until March 30. However, online classes will continue as scheduled on March 16.
According to a media release, some Eastern Gateway Community College staff and administrators will still be on campus, despite the change in class schedules. College operations, such as financial aid, registration, transcripts, etc., will continue. Students can access these services online and through email, text, and phone calls.
More than 88 percent of Eastern Gateway Community College students are already online. The following changes relate to all courses:
Online Courses
There is no change to online classes, including those that begin Monday, March 16.
College Credit Plus
Instructors who are teaching CCP courses will follow the high school’s schedule and will work with the students to ensure that they are completing the course objectives. College Credit Plus courses being taught on-campus at the high schools will transition classes to online platforms that work best for the school district and students.
On-Campus Classes
All in-person classes will be suspended until Monday, March 30. Eastern Gateway Community College will work with staff and faculty to move as many of these classes online as possible. If online learning is not an option, the faculty will work with students to ensure the course requirements are completed before the end of the semester.
ASPIRE (High School Equivalency Program)
These classes, which are offered on-campus in Steubenville and Youngstown, will be suspended until Monday, March 30.
Workforce Development Programs (CDL, Phlebotomy, Welding, Machining, Real Estate)
These programs will be suspended until Monday, March 30. Instructors will work with students to meet program requirements before the end of the semester.
Police Academy
This program will be suspended until Monday, March 30. Instructors will work with students to meet program requirements before the end of the semester.
The Eastern Gateway Community College Testing Center
This center will be closed until Monday, March 30.
Tutoring
Tutoring will continue online, with in-person sessions transitioning to Zoom.
Off-Campus Clinicals
The individual clinical sites will direct students on scheduling. Any student concerned about the impact clinical availability will have on their ability to meet course requirements should contact their instructor. Additionally, any student who does not feel well should refrain from reporting to a clinical.
Other Programs
Eastern Gateway Community College’s food pantry will be closed until Monday, March 30. Additionally, the Eastern Gateway Community College Gators baseball season has been suspended through March 30. The bookstore will be closed, but available online at https://egcc.edu/gatorstore/.
