A fence apparently wasn't enough to encourage some people to practice "social distancing" at the Austintown Township Park, so workers there have taken a more extreme measure.

21 News spotted park workers on Thursday removing the hoops from the four backboards on at the park's two outdoor basketball courts.

When asked why they were taking the hoops down, one worker told 21 News that a group of people playing basketball there the day before got into an argument with park employees when they were told to leave.

A plastic fence which workers had placed around the courts last month following the state's Stay at Home Order was drooping down in some places.  After removing the hoops, the workers removed the temporary fence.

The park's playground is also fenced off.  The trails, tennis courts and pickleball courts remain open.
