Letter carrier fights off dog attack in Warren

On the same day that the U.S. Postal Service revealed the number of letter carriers attacked by dogs in the Valley, a postal worker reported a dog attack in Warren.
A letter carrier told police she was about to place letters in a porch mailbox on Edgehill Avenue SE when a dog she identified as a pit bull came out of the front door and attacked her.
The 29-year-old letter carrier used her mailbag to fend off the dog until the owner came out and got the animal under control.
The woman went to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of an injury the police describes as minor.
The dog’s owner was issued a court summons for a vicious dog citation.
On Thursday, postal officials released information showing that 26 postal employees were attacked by dogs last year. Four of those attacks occurred in Warren
