Dave Grohl Alley interactive light display almost finished

WARREN, Ohio - A few months ago we reported on the project to brighten up Dave Grohl Alley in Warren. It's a 25,000 LED light display in the covered portion of the alley.
That display, designed and installed by two YSU students, John Galvin and Andy Boyer, is now almost finished.
"It's a lot of work but it's going to be worth it in the end I think," said Galvin.
"Just starting to see it really come to fruition like seeing it in person is something really cool," said Boyer.
Galvin and Boyer own a company called Chromaticity, which was selected by Brite Energy Innovators to create the interactive display which features over 25,000 lights and has a sound system that can sync to the lights.
The hope is the display will make the alley safer and continue the momentum of redeveloping downtown Warren.
"It's just been a rewarding process each step of the way through to really see it come together," said Boyer.
"New age technology feel to a rather older alley, historic alley so I think it will definitely bring tourists out," said Galvin.
When complete, the lights can also serve as a low resolution screen.
"Once it's done it will literally be like a huge TV screen and you will be able to, we can put the WFMJ logo or something on it as well, anything," said Boyer.
The pair say they have received a lot of comments while doing the work all Summer.
"They're really excited about it, getting into it already and it's only a quarter of the way finished and it's really rewarding to like hear that they're excited about it or ready for it already," Boyer said. "It's nice to see that they are getting into it, they like it for the community."
Galvin and Boyer hope to have the install finished in the next couple days. They want to have the programming, fine-tuning and clean up finished by the end of the month. A big unveiling is in the works, but with Coronavirus, they're still working out all the protocols.
