New institute aims to help bring manufacturing jobs to the Valley

A new institute with the goal of bolstering the Valley's advanced manufacturing technologies was announced this morning.
The Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Research Innovation Institute will be based in Youngstown and will work with already established local manufacturing companies to help strengthen and advance manufacturing companies in this area.
"The whole program is focused on advanced manufacturing but that only matters if you transition it and work towards commercialization. The end goal is not to build technologies that serve companies of 5 and 10 people but something we can build out into a technology base and a manufacturing base that serves hundreds if not thousands, ultimately that would be our goal," says AMARII President John Wilczynski.
Members of the AMARII advisory board say the institute is on the verge of bringing major contracts, from both the private and public sectors to this area, but there's no specific timeline as of now.
