TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - The Trumbull County Engineer's Office is adding five new vehicles to its fleet that use compressed natural gas.

The office is adding five new 2021 Freightliner 114 SD Compressed Natural Gas powered dump trucks equipped for snow and ice removal.

County Engineer Randy Smith said the dump trucks were purchased with a $592,342 award from the Ohio EPA's Diesel Mitigation Trust Fund. That award paid for half of the purchase of the vehicles.

A second grant from the Ohio EPA's Alternative Fuel Vehicle Program worth $100,000 paid for another 10% of the cost.

The Engineer's Office already has five vehicles that are powered by Compressed Natural Gas.
