WARREN, Ohio - It was a day filled with food, Easter baskets and even the Easter Bunny made his appearance Friday at the Warren Family Mission during their annual community Easter meal.

"We have 1,300 deliveries taking place in the community," said Dominic Mararri, Director Of Public Relations for Warren Family Mission. "We have 30 volunteers and 17 delivery drivers out taking meals to people who actually couldn't go to the to-go Easter meal."

Since the start of the pandemic, the Warren Family Mission has served nearly 150,000 meals to families. Friday was a success in providing over 2,000 meals and the event even had Easter baskets for the kids.

"Everything that we do is because of generous donors that believe in us," Mararri said, "that get behind feeding our hungry friends and neighbors in our community."

"Those people that probably donated are struggling themselves," said Brittany Gould of Warren, receiving food for her family. "They wanted the kids to have a good Easter so they came together and made it happen."

The Warren Family Mission says their highest peak in food insecurity was in April of 2020 and they've continuously seen a steady decline in the need for food.

"Those number have been decreasing," Mararri said. "People have been receiving the help that they need whether it's through stimulus money or even different banks that are less restrictive with mortgage forbearance and student loans."

This summer, food distributions will take place every Friday to continue to help the community out of this pandemic.
