Youngstown man sentenced to state pen for fatal shooting

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown man has been sentenced to prison in connection with the death of a 19-year-old on the city's west side.
Zion Gilmore, 21, was sentenced to 11 to 15 years in the Ohio Penitentiary on Monday after pleading guilty earlier to charges including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary after the shooting incident back on September 15, 2020.
The Mahoning County Coroner said the body of Theaplus Redmond, Jr. was found as police investigated the shooting that took place inside a home at the corner of Tyrell Avenue and Salt Springs Road around 1 a.m.
Authorities say that although Gilmore didn't pull the trigger, he was involved in the burglary that resulted in Redmond's dealth.
Investigators said there were several children inside the home, but none were injured.
