BOARDMAN, Ohio - Boardman police have charged a man following an accident that injured a bicyclist.

Police have charged Brandon Zagotti with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to maintain an assured clear distance.

Police say Zagotti struck a bicyclist on Matthews Road at 10:45 p.m. on April 12th.

The victim of the crash suffered several injuries and was treated by Lanes Ambulance and the Boardman Fire Department.

Boardman police say motorists in the township should always be alert for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcycles when on the road.

Most crashes involving bicyclists happen between 6 and 9 p.m. in urban areas.

Police say to drive with the flow, in the same direction as traffic and obey street signs and signals to avoid accidents.
