WARREN, Ohio - A business in Warren may be the latest victim of thieves stealing big-ticket items at stores in three states.

The security manager at the Lowe’s on Route 46 told police over the weekend that a customer put a $500, 80-pound wood planer on a skid and headed for the front door.

When confronted by an employee, the customer showed him a receipt for the machine. However, the store employee noticed that the receipt was from a different store and called a manager.

The “customer” did not wait, rolling the planer outside and into a waiting Dodge Grand Caravan with Florida license plates which drove away toward the nearby Sam’s Club.

The manager said the same man returned later and rolled a 70-pound, $950 tankless water heater out of the store and placed it in the same van, which then drove away.

The security manager told police he believes the suspect is associated with two other men who have stolen items from the store recently.

The manager told police that the three are involved in stealing from other Lowe’s stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
