A person of interest in a Struthers robbery was found unresponsive behind a Boardman restaurant.

The robbery happened around 9:40 a.m. Thursday at the Struthers Federal Credit Union on Poland Avenue. Police say a man went into the credit union and told a teller that he wanted to open an account. The teller explained that she needed to see an ID to open it.

The suspect then said that it was a robbery and demanded money, according to a news release from Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy. The teller handed over an unknown amount of money, and the suspect fled on foot across Poland Avenue.

Roddy says officers were able to get information on a person of interest, and an arrest warrant was obtained for 46-year-old Anthony J. Salata of Youngstown.

Around 1:45 p.m., the Boardman Fire Department responded to the report of an unresponsive man lying in a ditch behind the McDonald's on East Midlothian Boulevard at South Avenue. The man was later identified as Salata, according to Roddy. It's unclear why Salata was unresponsive.

Roddy says Salata was arrested, transported for questioning and then taken to the Mahoning County Jail.
