Valley community remembers George Floyd one year after his death

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Exactly one year after George Floyd's death, community members from across the Valley gathered at Union Baptist Church to remember what happened in Minneapolis, Minnesota that day.
In the same breath, the Next Steps Coalition on Police Reform wanted to bring attention to the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act that calls for remedies for racial profiling as well as limited qualified immunity for law enforcement officers.
"Honor George Floyd and his family, by joining the fight to hold law enforcement accountable. Pledge to call your senators and tell them to pass the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act of 2021. Remember George Floyd's last words, 'I can't breathe'," chanted Maguerite Douglas of Youngstown while she stood at the podium.
Community members said there's much more work to be done toward police reform and they will continue to call law enforcement and government officials to action.
