WASHINGTON, D.C. - A soon-to-be Struthers eighth-grader has been eliminated in the first round of the 94th Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Christopher Dominick was the winner of the 88th annual 21WFMJ Regional Spelling Bee this past March.

The virtual quarterfinals were held Tuesday for the national competition.

Chris was one of 74 contestants taking part not only from the United States and internationally as well.

He incorrectly spelled "offertory," which is an offering or collection of money made at a religious service.
