Two charged after chase from Lisbon to Austintown
Two people were charged after a high speed chase through Columbiana and Mahoning counties.
Troopers from the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called out Thursday around 2 p.m. after a passerby saw a driver on State Route 11 that passed them driving erratically and crashed, according to a press release.
Two troopers tried to talk to the driver during a traffic stop just north of the Columbiana County line in Beaver Township, but the driver, identified as 41-year-old Daniel Dicks of Warren, fled police.
A pursuit ensued as troopers said Dicks traveled at speeds more than 100 miles per hour on State Route 11 and exited at Route 224 when he drove through a ditch and then entered back onto State Route 11 Northbound.
Troopers said Dicks struck a vehicle in the Austintown area and avoided a tire deflation device placed by police at Mahoning Avenue.
According to the press release, Dicks drove onto Interstate 680 Southbound where he lost control, struck a second vehicle and went into another ditch.
Troopers said he tried fleeing on foot but was apprehended.
Dicks was charged with fleeing, OVI and traffic violations and was booked into the Mahoning County Jail.
Dicks' passenger, 41-year-old Nicole Libertino of Cortland, was charged with wrongful entrustment for letting an impaired and suspended driver drive her vehicle.
No one was hurt as a result of the two crashes.
