JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Mahoning County, Ohio - A representative of Akron Children's Hospital says two employees have been released after medical treatment for minor injuries received when their ambulance struck a barrier on Interstate 80 in Jackson Township early Friday.

The crash closed two westbound lanes of Interstate 80 between the Meander Reservoir and the Ohio Turnpike for a couple hours.

A rescue squad was dispatched to the scene of the crash at around 3:45 a.m. Friday. The front of the ambulance was heavily damaged.

According to the hospital representative, there were no patients in the ambulance and hospital operations are not impacted.

 

 

Two lanes of westbound I-80 were closed while the patrol investigated.  All three lanes are now open.
