Farrell Festival hopes to raise money for road project

FARRELL, Pa. - The City of Farrell is hosting its 2021 festival Saturday in hopes of raising money for the Idaho Street update project.
The festival will take place Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Idaho Street.
21 News reported on the state grant awarded to the city to repair the historic street.
Farrell will receive $1.7 million for the upgrade but the city must come up with a 30% match or $500,000.
Idaho Street has been a focal point of the city for many years. President John F. Kennedy traveled on the street in the 50's and the road has not changed much since that time.
The street is still made of bricks that are nearly 100 years old, making it nearly impossible for plows to go down it because of the bricks being heaved up.
How they will pay for the loan is not yet known, but officials hope the festival is a good start.
