Local doctor donates $5 million to YSU Foundation

A recent donation of $5 million to Y.S.U. from the Dr. Chander Kohli family matches the largest donation the university has ever received in its 113 year history.
The new building housing the Excellence Training Center is now called Kohli Hall.
It's named in honor of Dr. Chander Kohli, a local neurosurgeon, along with his wife Karen, who wanted to donate $5 million to something that would have interested their late son, Aneal.
They say he loved new technology and what's happening in this new training center teaches just that.
"We do not name buildings very often," said YSU Foundation President, Paul McFadden. The Kohli name will now be synonymous with Williamson, Kilcawley, Beeghly and all those wonderful benefactors that through the generations have impacted our students."
"God has been very kind to me! Since I came here in 1972 this community has helped me get where I am and I wanted to give back to the community," said Dr. Kohli.
"There is no limit to what can be created here," said Karen Kohli. "Close to my heart are the classrooms with Aneal's name on them!"
Part of their donation will go to funding 19 classrooms of the future on the YSU campus.
President Tressel calls Kohli Hall "a teaching factory" and the $5 million donation from the Kohli's will help to update technology there for many years to come.
