CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Trumbull 9-1-1 dispatcher saves choking co-worker
WARREN, Ohio - 9-1-1 Dispatchers are used to talking people through emergency situations, but one Trumbull County dispatcher found herself in an emergency situation herself.
Katelyn Bower sprang into action when she realized her colleague and friend was choking.
You can see Bower in security footage giving Shana Murphy the heimlich. Murphy couldn't breath while choking on a steak.
"I think we're trained to stay calm in situations, so in that aspect yes but in general I just acted," said Katelyn Bower.
"It was absolutely terrifying how quick it happened like sitting there just trying to catch a break in between calls and having that happen it was scary," said Shana Murphy.
Bower has been with the dispatch center for just over a year and a half. Murphy's been there since 2014.
