Gas prices in Ohio are up once again in Northeast Ohio, rising 14 cents higher for the week of Sept. 6, 2021.

Currently, the average price for gas in Northeast ohio is $3.044 per gallon according to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report.

The average gas prices for the week of Aug. 30, 2021 was $2.905, and the average price for the week of Sept. 8, 2020 was $2.166.

Following Labor Day Weekend and the remnants of Hurricane Ida, the national gas price average has stabilized at $3.18 per gallon.

Hurricane Ida took about 13% of U.S. refinery capacity offline, and while there are no firm restart dates, refineries are expected to be back online this month.

Gasoline stock levels are currently at a healthy 227.2 million barrels, but stock levels could tighten up until these refineries are back online and resume operations.

Typically, a limitation on stocks would mean increased prices, however demand is expected to decrease in the fall, so price fluctuation should be minimal.

Historically, gas prices have declined once summer road trips end and the school year begins in the fall.

Despite the dip in demand, the national average could remain above $3 per gallon, especially as crude oil continues to price on the higher end
