Businesses to be revamped in Boardman

The recent sale of the popular Georgetown Banquet Center in Boardman, is just another example of how more and more properties in the Valley are being renovated.
It was purchased by the owner of The Mocha House.
It's unclear what the owner plans to do with the property but this year, Boardman is seeing more redevelopment than last year which means new ways for the community to benefit.
In one of Boardman's shopping plazas, Bob's Discount Furniture will occupy one of the vacant buildings between Lowe's and Ross Dress for Less.
Not far down the road on Market street, Nissan will revitalize the plaza next door to them for the use of their vehicles.
Officials say redevelopments to vacant buildings is great for keeping the township lively and thriving and creates a number of different opportunities for the people who live there.
"You know, there's a life cycle for some of those empty spaces where people have interest and now we're seeing them get renovated and activated," said Boardman Township Administrator Jason Loree. "Which means more jobs, more opportunities for people to come in and shop and it helps the overall community," he said.
Several other vacant buildings in the township are scheduled for revitilization including the old Family Video on Market street that will soon be a "Go Puff," convenience item delivery service.
"You don't wanna see empty buildings, you wanna see activated spaces," said Loree. "So when we see that type of activity in boardman it's showing that the community is still viable, people wanna do business here and we're happy to see it happen," he said.
Officials say the majority of these places have been vacant for six or more months.
