The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the FAA are investigating a fatal plane crash in Medina County.

According to the patrol, shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday a plane crashed on the runway at the Wadsworth Municipal Airport.

Troopers say 64-year-old Robert Taylor of Medina was piloting a single-engine amateur-built aircraft when it crashed.

The preliminary investigation shows the plane was taking off when the nose of the plane struck the runway, causing it to flip onto its top and catch fire.

Taylor died at the scene.

Troopers are still working to determine the make and model of the aircraft.
