Well-known Youngstown advocate Victoria Allen passes away

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A well-known community advocate in Youngstown passed away Tuesday morning.
Victoria Turnage Allen was known for her ability to rally and organize.
Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown says, "She was truly a great advocate for the families of this community. She had a heart of gold for helping and serving the people of Youngstown. Our city has lost a great person and she will truly be missed."
Rev. Lewis Macklin says "It's hard to find any positive event in this community that didn't have her imprint on it."
Macklin said Allen organized many massive events such as Easter egg hunts, hat and coat drives for the youth, and Trunk-or-Treat events. Allen was also actively involved in Crime Stoppers and her community block watch group.
Macklin said Allen "showed folks how to be community minded."
Youngstown Councilman Julius Oliver also spoke highly of Allen, saying "Victoria was probably what everyone needs to see and look at when it comes to being a community leader."
Oliver said Allen pushed the city forward and "there wasn't a person in the city that didn't see that or appreciate that."
Many people have also been posting on social media their appreciation and admiration for Allen.
One person said, "Every once in a while you encounter someone whose presence makes you do better, be better, and after five minutes with that person you become better."
Another said, "You left an undeniable impact on this community. The kind of impact we all hope to leave."
At this time there are no details on her death.
