Youngstown Parks & Recreation to hold open house for Sports Complex

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Parks & Recreation will be hosting two open house events at the Sports Complex (Formerly South Fieldhouse) at 1840, Erie St. in Youngstown to discuss potential future plans for the building.
The events will be taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday Oct. 20 respectively. Both events will go from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
According to Director, Dawn Turnage, the idea for this open house came when the department was consistently receiving calls asking about plans for the building and the current condition of the building. This open house will give those interested the opportunity to see the building for themselves in person.
The building was originally part of South High School and was the primarily used for sporting events such as basketball games. The department acquired the property from the Youngstown Board of Education in 1998.
Anyone is welcome to come to the open house, observe the building and discuss potential ideas for future plans for the building. These plans can either be submitted to Youngstown Parks & Recreation or the Youngstown Department of Economic Development.
All attendees are required to wear a mask, as well as a hardhat in order to attend.
