Police confiscated a handgun with an extended magazine and arrested two men while investigating shots fired in a Warren neighborhood.

Twenty-year-old Mario Holmes and 19-year-old Thomas Valentino, both of Warren, are charged with discharging firearms. Holmes is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Both were arrested Thursday night after police say they pulled over a speeding car along Main Avenue while investigating a report that shots were fired from two cars around Charles Avenue and High Street NE about a half-hour earlier.

Police found three .45 caliber shell casings in the street where the shots had been fired.

Officers say there were several bullet holes in the passenger side door of the Buick that was pulled over.

A search of the car turned up a loaded handgun with an extended magazine as well as a shell casing that matched those found at the shooting scene, according to the police report.

Three juveniles who were also in the car could face charges as well.

Holmes and Valentino were scheduled for arraignment in Warren Municipal Court on Friday.
