A look at the progress of Hubbard St. Patrick's Church

It's almost been a year since the fire broke out in the basement of the St. Patricks Church in Hubbard.
It was January around 5:40 pm when the fire broke out, leaving the parish with millions of dollars in damages.
Since then, the church has been under construction and there has been a lot of progress made however there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.
Right now, the church is taking down the back wall where the tree of life stood, and the wall sustained heavy damage due to the building shifting. This is just another step in a long process to get the church back to what it was.
At times, the process has been delayed due to worker shortages, getting supplies and getting them on time.
The night of the fire left the entire church filled with heavy smoke and temperatures climbed over 2,000°F. Due to this, the floor still needs to be removed, the marble in the sanctuary has to be taken out, and the bent beam left a hole in the sanctuary has to be fixed.
Also, the roof needs to be replaced and the wall they are working on still needs to be taken down. This, mixed in with the shortages, has pushed back the completed date.
Father Michael Swierz told 21 News that he hopes the church will be completed by late 2022 into early 2023.
