Korean War veteran salutes Goshen Twp. Police for act of kindness

GOSHEN TWP., Ohio - A Korean War Veteran and his family want to thank a Goshen Township Police officer for going above the call of duty.
The family of 80 year-old Larry Coonce said in September an officer stopped by their home on Stratton Road to fix an American flag that had become tangled around its pole.
The officer, who has asked to remain anonymous, spoke with Coonce about his service in the war, saluted the veteran and shook his hand. The family says Coonce had just recently suffered a stroke and said they planned to replace the flag, that had become worn and torn from years of hanging, but as time passed they did not get around to the project.
This weekend, the family was surprised when the officer returned to their home and not only replaced the flag and pole with a new one that he had purchased, but also gave Coonce a Korean War hat.
The family wanted to publicly thank this officer for his time and thoughtfulness.
