The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will close both the Arms Family Museum and the Tyler History Center in Youngstown to the public for the entire month of January 2022.

Arms Family Museum always closes in the month of January so that staff can take down the Memories of Christmas Past exhibit, but this year the Tyler History Center is being shut down in order to clean the facility.

"It’s not directly related to the increase in COVID cases," said MVHS Development Director Linda Kostka. "We do want to deep clean all facilities and give staff a chance to catch up on their normal duties, since we’ve all been working at Arms for the exhibit and staffing the gift shops."

Both sites are scheduled to reopen to the public on Tuesday, February 1 with their regular hours of operation from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sundays.

Stewart Media Archives which is run by the MVHS will remain open through January by making an appointment with the MVHS. A representative said they usually send archived business and media footage to those who request it and do not typically have in-house guests for the service.

Staff will remain on-site at both facilities during January and anyone with questions can contact the MVHS directly via email at mvhs@mahoninghistory.org.
