COLUMBIANA, Ohio - Classes are set to resume at Crestview Local Schools next week and the district has updated its COVID-19 guidelines in preparation for students returning to school.

The updated guidelines are in alignment with recent CDC guideline updates regarding quarantine and isolation after a positive test or exposure to COVID-19.

According to a flow chart released by the district, anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must stay home and isolate for five days regardless of vaccination status.

If staying away from those in your own household is not possible, wear a three-layer or stronger mask.

If you are asymptomatic on day six, you may leave isolation but must still wear a mask for five days. However, if you are still experiencing symptoms on day six, you must continue to isolate while wearing a mask for five days.

If you have symptoms and are waiting for your test results, stay home until you confirm that you are negative.

In regards to exposure, if you have had your booster shot or completed your Pfizer or Moderna vaccine less than six months ago or Johnson & Johnson vaccine less than two months ago, you may wear a mask around others for the next 10 days and get tested on day five.

If you develop symptoms or test positive during this time, stay home.

The same rules apply if you have been exposed to COVID-19 less than 90 days after testing positive.

For those who are unvaccinated or completed their Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than six months ago or their Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than two months ago, you must stay home for five days and test on day five.

If you develop symptoms or test positive, stay home. Continue to wear a mask around others for five days.

On Thursday, Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff endorsed these new CDC guidelines.

In addition, Crestview Elementary School has a Quick Med Urgent Care open for students from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days.
