YOUNGSTOWN - Seven more Youngstown State University faculty members have been notified that their contracts won’t be renewed.

University spokesperson Ron Cole confirmed to 21 News that the notices were given to lecturers from the College of Health and Human Services, the STEM college, and the College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Education.

The notices come three months after the University announced the layoff of nine other faculty members and the elimination of 26 academic programs in order to “ensure long-term academic vitality and financial stability.”

University officials explained the first wave of cuts on declining enrollment, resulting in a projected $5.6 million decrease of tuition and fees.
