Youngstown man drives himself to hospital after reportedly being shot in head

A Youngstown man is believed to have driven himself to the hospital mere minutes after being shot in the head by masked gunmen.
According to reports, a Youngstown police officer was made aware that a gunshot victim arrived at St. Elizabeth Hospital in his white Chevy Trail Blazer around 1 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle had been parked outside of the emergency room and police inspected it. Officers said they discovered six bullet holes and markings along with the passenger side window being shot out.
The man was reportedly in stable enough condition to speak with first responders. Police said the man had parked the Chevy into a driveway on Pasadena Avenue near South Avenue in Youngstown at 12:30 p.m. when two individuals wearing black masks drove down the street and opened fire. One bullet reportedly struck the victim in the left side of his head.
He told officers that he ran inside the home he parked at and called for an ambulance. After waiting several minutes for EMS to arrive, reports said the man could not wait any longer. According to police, he hopped back behind the wheel of the Chevy and drove to his mother's house. The victim's mother is said to have advised him to get to the hospital immediately.
Both got inside the vehicle and drove to the hospital, the man told officers. The victim said he was the one who drove the vehicle to the emergency room.
Police said they spoke to at least one witness.
Crime lab officers and Youngstown Police Department detectives collected D.N.A samples from the scene.
Reports show that there are no suspects as of Wednesday afternoon.
