Local lawmakers react to Russia's Ukraine invasion
Several local and state lawmakers have shared their reactions to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Senator Sherrod Brown released a statement saying, "Russia's unprovoked assault on Ukraine is an affront to freedom and democracy the world over. This attack will be met with united, decisive action by the United States and our allies. Vladimir Putin chose war, he is unleashing senseless death and destruction on the Ukrainian people, and he will face the consequences."
Congressman Tim Ryan says "Putin's pursuit of power has driven him to a decision that will kill innocent men, women and children and that in the end Putin will regret this decision."
Earlier this week, Senator Rob Portman called Putin's tactics a "clear violation of international law," and urged the Biden administration and U.S. allies to "ensure a coordinated response to this unwarranted continued incursion on sovereign territory of Ukraine."
"There are no winners in war, only horrific death and catastrophic destruction," said Congressman Bill Johnson. "We pray that the Ukrainian people will muster the courage and strength they need in this dark time."
Congressman Mike Kelly also responded by saying "We cannot allow Putin to bully and intimidate the world into getting what he wants."
