Hermitage FedEx plans brings move for local winery

HERMITAGE, Pa. - News that FedEx is planning to build a distribution center on the site of the Tam O’ Shanter driving range in Hermitage means that another business on the property is pulling up stakes and moving elsewhere.
Owners of Webb Winery announced in a video message on Facebook that, pending state approval, they plan to relocate from South Hermitage Road to the former Schwebel Outlet on East State Street.
Webb Winery, which has been at its current location for five years, will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a move sometime in mid-May.
In the video announcement, owners of the winery said they knew about the FedEx project for some time and had been planning the move.
The City of Hermitage announced last week that it had received a land development plan that includes a 250,000 sq. ft. FedEx distribution center facility.
According to a statement released by FedEx, the company chose Hermitage due to its proximity to the highways, customers' distribution centers, and the local workforce for employee recruitment.
