It was quite the dramatic ending in the season openers for both the Poland and Hubbard softball teams. The Lady Bulldogs took a 2-1 win home after a walk-off home run, the team's first hit of the game.

Hubbard senior pitcher Haley Croyle took a no-hitter and perfect game into the the 7th inning of a 1-0 game.

Croyle, who will be attending Akron on a softball scholarship next season, recorded 13 strikeouts and hadn't allowed a hit the entire game.

After a walk ended the perfect game in the bottom of the 7th inning, Poland's Mary Brant blasted a two-run homer over the centerfield fence for the walk-off 2-1 win. Poland pitcher Katie McDonald struck out 11 batters, giving up four hits and one run.

Poland improved to 1-0 after the NE-8 battle while Hubbard fell to 0-1.

Despite the loss, Hubbard and Croyle battled until the end. Croyle finished with two of Hubbard's four hits, which consisted of a single and a double.
