State troopers searching for chase suspect that escaped on foot in Boardman

The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol spent the early morning hours of Sunday chasing a stolen vehicle.
According to the release, the pursuit began as an attempted traffic stop along Route 224 near Southern Boulevard in Boardman.
State Troopers pulled over a stolen 2017 Chevrolet Cruze after observing the car driving erratically and committing a signal and lane violation.
They signaled for the suspect to stop before the suspect fled, heading eastbound on Route 224 before exiting onto Interstate 680 southbound.
The chase continued at speeds around 90 miles per hour while on I-680. The driver then attempted to drive in the wrong direction on I-680 before hitting a Highway Patrol cruiser.
After the collision, the driver went through the grass median and drove northbound on I-680 before getting back onto Route 224.
The chase continued into a parking lot off of Route 224 near Hitchcock Road where the suspect got out of the car and ran away on foot.
Boardman Police and State Troopers set up a perimeter after losing sight of the suspect. An air unit from the State Highway Patrol and canine units from Salem and Youngstown also searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him.
