Pennsylvania - Pennsylvania agricultural secretary Russ Redding announced a temporary quarantine order banning the exhibition of poultry and eggs at county and local fairs in Pennsylvania due to the avian influenza.

The ban prohibits the display of feathers, eggs and any other parts or items made of these parts.

The ban begins Saturday, April 16 and will last for 60 days. The ban effects 108 county and local fairs.

Pennsylvania has not yet confirmed a case of the Avian flu since a outbreak in 1984, but as of April 12, 2022, infected birds have been confirmed in 26 states including most states surrounding Pennsylvania.

The avian flu does not pose an immediate public health concern, and there have been no cases of human Avian influenza have been reported in the United States.

The ban is to help protect the $7.1 billion poultry industry in Pennsylvania.
