A Warren man is facing charges after allegedly locking a woman inside of a room at the Capri Motel in Howland.

According to the report, police received a call from an employee at Capri Motel who claimed that a tenant, William McCawley, had forced her inside his room and locked her inside with him.

The employee went up to the room after reports of smoke which McCawley claimed was from his phone that had caught on fire while he tried to remove the battery.

While attempting to detain McCawley during the incident, he allegedly resisted causing a physical struggle.

Officers say McCawley began throwing punches at them, causing one of them to taser him in the chest.

Reports say McCawley stood up after being hit with the taser and said "ouch that hurt" before falling back to the floor. He then allegedly tried to pull the wires of the taser out, causing officers to charge another 3-second charge into him.

Police say the physical struggle continued with McCawley throwing punches and the officers delivering knee strikes to his side and punching him two times in the upper body.

Once McCawley was restrained, he was taken to the hospital for his injuries. He allegedly began yelling and resisting again at the hospital and officers warned him that he would be tased again if he resisted.

McCawley said "I do not want to be tased again and I am sorry for resisting you guys," according to the report.

William McCawley was charged with kidnapping, two counts of felony assault and resisting arrest.
