There will be no school in the district on Tuesday, Dr. Thomas, Lowellville's superintendent announced late Monday afternoon. The email from the district stated," After meetings today with the staff and counselors, below is an adjusted schedule that we plan to follow this week. Again, please understand that this schedule is subject to change."
The email said "In collaboration with regional mental health professionals and law enforcement, Lowellville Local School District has decided to modify the return to school date. The group has been working collaboratively to ensure that students will return to an environment that addresses the various additional needs that students may present as a result of last week's incident. "
On Thursday, May 12, and Friday, May 13, students (K-12) will return to school all day at normal times.
On Friday, “Senior Farewell” will start at 9 am and parents and family can gather outside on the track. All students attending Prom will be dismissed at 10 a.m. The promenade will begin at 6:15 p.m. at the Lowellville High School gym. The Prom will be at the Embassy.
Counselors will be on-site all week to assist students, staff, and parents.
The email said to anticipate an increased police presence at the school.
If parents feel the need to keep their child home, please call the child off to the main office. Absences will be excused this week.
