Cleveland Zoo's 'corpse flower' blooms

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The wait is over at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo where the so-called “corpse flower” has bloomed.
After waiting for several weeks, the Titan Arum plant began to bloom at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday according to the zoo’s Facebook page.
Called the corpse flower because of an odor that some people compare to that of rotting flesh, the bloom only comes several years apart and usually only lasts for 24 hours.
This will be the fifth bloom in of the zoo’s plant in 28 years. The corpse flower can grow up to 10 feet tall and is one of the largest flowering plants in the world.
The Zoo will open to the public early at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 28.
Guests visiting the Asian Lantern Festival Thursday evening will see the bloom illuminated at night.
If you can't take in the sensory experience in person, you can at least see the flower by viewing the Zoo's YouTube Livestream, here: https://buff.ly/3vIYOHd
