The investigation into an alleged hazing incident will result in another weekend without football games in the Mohawk School District.

Superintendent Michael Leitera issued a statement on Monday announcing that the junior varsity and varsity football programs will remain inactive through Sunday, September 4, 2022.

The suspension includes all activities and games, both junior varsity and varsity, for the upcoming weekend, as they were this past weekend.

Leitera says the investigation into allegations involving the junior varsity and varsity football program continues as the schools work with the Lawrence County District Attorney’s office.

“Because this matter involves minor students and matters protected by student confidentiality, the district will not be providing additional details while the investigation is pending,” the superintendent said in his statement. “We’ll provide as much information as possible while still respecting student privacy rights when the investigation has been completed.”

Last week Attorney Dallas Hartman told 21 News he is conducting his own investigation into the allegations.

Football games scheduled this past weekend against Union Area High School were canceled.  Friday’s game against Quaker Valley will also not be played.
