Canfield Fair officials blame rain for attendance dip

CANFIELD, Ohio - According to fair officials, attendance at this year's Canfield Fair was 14% less than the number of paid admissions from a year ago.
The Fair Board announced on Tuesday that 245,140 people passed through the gates during the six-day event, compared to 285,126 during the fair's run in 2021.
"Weather played a factor in the attendance dip from last year, but it was great to 8000 fans in the stands on Sunday night for the Sam Hunt concert; even after all the rain, it turned into a beautiful evening," says George
Roman, Canfield Fair Board Director.
The daily attendance for the fair was:
Wednesday, Aug. 31: 23,037, up 31 percent over last year's attendance.
Thursday, Sept. 1: 34,970, down nearly 3 percent from 2021
Friday, Sept. 2: 44,631, down 2.6 percent
Saturday, Sept. 3: 71,497, up 3.6 percent
Sunday, Sept. 4: 40,241, down 31.6 percent
Monday, Sept. 5: 30,764, down 46.8 percent
There was heavy rainfall late Sunday and more rain on Monday when the fair main event concerts were scheduled.
Ten people were arrested for a disturbance at the fair late Saturday as a possible factor impacting attendance. The case remains under investigation.
