The Trumbull County Board of Elections unanimously rejected State Representative Mike Loychik's legal challenge for Jennifer Donnelly to run as an independent in the November election.
The challenge alleged that Donnelly had voted as a Democrat multiple times and over a residency concern. The challenge also claimed that certain Trumbull County Democrats helped Donnely circulate petitions and flyers on her candidacy.
After about 40 minutes, the Board rejected the challenge, allowing Donnelly to run as an independent on the Nov. 8 ballot.
No Democrats filed to run in the primary race in May against Loychik for State Representative of the 63rd District. Donnelly filed on Aug. 1 to run as an independent.
