YOUNGSTOWN - A weekend-long event gets underway Friday on Youngstown’s South Side to celebrate the memory of a 10-year-old girl and to help bring an end to the kind of violence that claimed her life more than a year ago.

The Persayus Way Project is a non-profit organization formed to reduce violence and clean up Youngstown.

The project is named for Persayus Chanell Davis-May, who was fatally shot inside a Samuel Street home on August 18, 2021.

The event runs from Friday, September 30, 2022, through Sunday, September 2, 2022, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. at the southeast corner of Southern Blvd and East Florida Avenue.

Beginning with a car show on Friday, the event continues with vendors selling their wares.

There will be a non-violence rally and on Sunday a moment of silence honoring Persayus.
