Mahoning County Treasurer Daniel Yemma has had his driving privileges suspended for a year and ordered to undergo a driving safety program after pleading guilty to failing to maintain control of his vehicle.

Yemma, who was also fined $1000, was originally charged with Operating a Vehicle under the influence on September 8 after a traffic stop in Struthers.

Struthers Municipal Court Judge recused himself from hearing Yemma's case earlier.

On Tuesday a visiting judge also sentenced Yemma to 200 days in jail, suspending 177 of those days, and ordered Yemma to take part in a three-day safety program in lieu of serving the remaining three-day jail sentence.

At the request of 21 News, the Struthers police department provided a video of Yemma's traffic stop and field sobriety test.

The arresting officer told Yemma that he had driven through a stop sign, drove left of center, and went over a curb when he was stopped.

Yemma stopped while in the process of undergoing a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.
