WBCB, The Valley’s CW, will televise the Missouri Valley Football Conference game between Youngstown State University and Western Illinois University this Saturday, October 22, 2022.  The game will begin at 4:00 p.m., live from Macomb, Illinois.

YSU (3-3, 1-2 MVFC) is coming off a thrilling 48-42 Homecoming win over Indiana State at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday.  Meanwhile, Western Illinois (0-6, 0-3) was defeated at Southern Illinois, 30-7.

YSU is guided by head coach Doug Phillips who is in his third season.  Western Illinois head coach Myers Hendrickson is in his first.

The series between the two teams kicked off in 1969, with YSU holding a 20-15 advantage.  The Leathernecks engineered a second-half comeback to beat the Penguins, 38-35, at Stambaugh Stadium last season. 

YSU RB Jaleel McLaughlin continues to lead the MVFC in rushing by a wide margin.  The senior is averaging a conference-best 142.7 yards per game and is 2nd in touchdowns with nine.  He also continues to climb the NCAA FCS rushing rankings with 856 total yards, placing him 2nd in the nation.  As a team, the Penguins are 2nd in the MVFC, running for 202.2 yards per contest.
